Myschool
Friday, January 29th, 2010So, the Australian government has brought out the MySchool website in its continued attempt to be the most populist government of all time. The site, apparently, allows parents to see the result of a single test administered to kids and then ranks the schools of Australia accordingly. This will, of course, lead to no increased information about schools, since the schools which rank highest on the test will be the ones that waste all their time training kids to do the test instead of teaching them stuff they need to know.
I have a suggestion. What we actually need in Australia is a MyPolly website with the exam results, certificates and degrees held by all the Australian politicians currently in office. The public would then be able to decide for themselves if their politician is “up to scratch”. Maybe they could all sit this test thing as well?
After all, it is education policy which decides whether kids are properly educated. The public needs to know that education of children is in the hands of people who have a clue what they’re doing.
